Doctrine and Covenants, Section 6, Verse 2
"Behold, I am God; give heed unto my word, which is quick and powerful, sharper than a two-edged sword, to the dividing asunder of both joints and marrow; therefore give heed unto my words."
Have you ever thought about what it means to be sharper than a two-edged sword? A three-edged sword?
According to Sister Susan Easton Black, "the Lord can reach the repentant and rebellious alike. With His power the Lord defends the repentant. With His strength He pierces the rebellious for embracing false ideas and carnal thoughts."
One scripture that backs up this idea is, D&C 136:33, "For my Spirit is sent forth into the world to enlighten the humble and contrite, and to the condemnation of the ungodly."
I know that a major theme in the Book of Mormon is the Pride Cycle. The people are righteous and blessed, they start becoming prideful, and then they fall and are forced to be humbled and repent, and around again and again.
The Lord has his hand in every aspect of our lives. He is blessing those that are righteous, or trying to be the best they can be. For those that have fallen, he can inspire or push them to repentance and a changed lifestyle.
